hillary-clinton-president primaryHillary Clinton is often criticized for her unfeeling brand image. Unlike her husband, former President Bill Clinton, who is known for his ability to charm any audience, Hillary has failed in this area, so it came as quite a shock when she was nearly brought to tears as she answered a question during a Q&A session before the New Hampshire Primary vote yesterday.

At the end of the hour-long question and answer session, Hillary Clinton was asked how she, “pulled herself together each day to go out and face the rigours of the campaign,” to which Hillary responded with tears in her eyes saying:

“I have so many opportunities for this country. I just don’t want to see us fall backwards.” She went on to say, “This is very personal for me. “It’s not just political. It’s not just public. I see what’s happening, and we’ve to reverse it. Some people think that elections are a game - it’s about who’s up or who’s down.” She countered this thought by saying, “It’s about our country, and it’s about our kids’ future. Some of us put ourselves out there and do this against some pretty difficult odds.”

It’s not often you see a political candidate show some emotion and show that they really care. I think Hillary’s moment of humanism will boost her brand image in the 2008 Presidential campaign. What do you think?

kids4.jpgIndividuals and businesses can make a difference and a new project in Tanzania is a great place to focus your corporate or personal donations. A friend of mine recently forwarded me info on Operation Tech Start, a project that is working to “upgrade the economic status of disadvantaged communities through the spread of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) within the central region of Tabora, Tanzania - an area often overlooked by international aid due to its poor infrastructure and inaccessibility.”

Operation Tech Begin aims to connect kids and communities in Tanzania to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) that improve their educational and economic opportunities.

Operation Tech Begin is looking for

  • Personal equipment & accessories
  • Digital cameras, music players or other electronics
  • Children’s movies (DVD format)

If you or your company have extra electronics that you can give to the children in Tanzania email Holly@operationtechstart.org or call 347-243-5183.

Or consider helping fund the pilot project: Personal Classes for 25 Kids for 6 Months

Tell them where you want your money to go and the funds will be applied to the specific area. You’ll be able to check in on the blog for confirmation of how the money is being used. Here’s what your donation can do:

  • Educational software & manuals = $20/child
  • Personal educators & training fee = $3,160/month
  • Printer paper, pens & pencils = $10/month
  • Personal lab local helpdesk= $25/month
  • World wide web connection = $30/month

This is a wonderful project and the kind of endeavor that businesses and individuals can easily get involved in. You could donate unused computer equipment, supplies or money. However you choose to support Operation Tech Start it will make a difference.
